D<\/span> ie Pr\u00e4fektur Thesprotia, auch regionale Einheit von Thesprotia, ist eine der 54 Pr\u00e4fekturen Griechenlands, des nordwestlichen Teils des Festlandes und insbesondere eine der vier Pr\u00e4fekturen der geografischen und administrativen Region Epirus. Es geh\u00f6rt zu den entlegensten Pr\u00e4fekturen des Landes.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Die Hauptstadt der Pr\u00e4fektur ist Igoumenitsa.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Das Gebiet der Pr\u00e4fektur Thesprotia wurde w\u00e4hrend der Balkankriege 1913 dem K\u00f6nigreich Griechenland angegliedert, als die griechische Armee das Gebiet vom Osmanischen Reich befreite. Anfangs geh\u00f6rte das gesamte Gebiet der Pr\u00e4fektur Ioannina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1928 wurde die Pr\u00e4fektur Thesprotia aus westlichen Teilen der Pr\u00e4fektur Ioannina und n\u00f6rdlichen Teilen der Pr\u00e4fektur Preveza gebildet, wobei der antike griechische Name des ber\u00fchmten mythischen Helden Thesprotia angenommen wurde.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bei der Volksz\u00e4hlung von 1981 (vor der Umsetzung der administrativen Aufteilung des Kapodistrias-Plans) umfasste die Pr\u00e4fektur Thesprotia 4 Provinzen, 3 Gemeinden, 99 Gemeinden und 171 Siedlungen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In der Antike war Thesprotia ein Ort an der Westk\u00fcste des antiken Epirus zwischen Chaonia, Molossia und Kassopi. Seine Grenzen waren im Norden durch den Fluss Thyamis, im S\u00fcden durch Acheron und im Osten durch den Berg Zavrochos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strabon betrachtete Kassopaia auch als Teil von Thesprotia, obwohl aus alten M\u00fcnzen bekannt ist, dass Kassopaia f\u00fcr einige Zeit ein autonomer Staat war.<\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Ber\u00fccksichtigt man jedoch Strabons Meinung sowie die anderer Schriftsteller, die Dodoni in dieses Land bringen, so sollte man verstehen, dass Thesprotia in der Antike das gesamte Gebiet von Souli, die Ebenen von Arta und Preveza bis zum Amvrakikos Golf umfasste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Homer erw\u00e4hnt auch seine Bewohner und bezieht sich sp\u00e4ter auf seinen K\u00f6nig Pheidon sowie Herodot und andere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

W\u00e4hrend ihrer Bl\u00fctezeit umfasste Thesprotia neben Kassopia und Eleatida auch Dryopia, Kestrini von Chaonia und Athamania (das heutige Tzoumerka).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
